I have a light brahma , 6 months old, laying for about 2 weeks now. Every day she struggles. She makes several trips in and out of the coop, walks around with her mouth open, and sits for a couple hours. She lays a smallish egg most days, nice shell, looks just like her sisters' eggs. The ladies eat layer crumbles, optional oyster shell, free range, plenty of water, fruits, vegetables, and scratch treats. After she lays she joins the flock and seems fine. Will she feel better over time? I don't want her to be suffering.

Might want to cut out the other foods...layer crumbles are meant to be the sole input.

But agrees with CN13, fairly normal behavior that might change with time.

aart is correct, I was treating my girls to healthy treats, they weren't putting on weight. Advised to stop so much treats, I did where they get basically their FR/FF & I scatter a 1/8cup of scratch w/BOSS at close up (feel guilty as they do not free range). They've since put on weight & learned my lesson. They don't NEED treats, it's US that do, ha ha
