Hi all,
I have a hen that was hatched 4 months ago. a week ago she just became very lethargic, sits in corners, won't eat corn or any goodies i offer her like scrambled egg, rice, noodles. I've taken her away from the rest of the flock as they do bully her..... Her mother went broody again quite soon after she was hatched and has since had 4 chicks and 'booted' this poorly one out.
I'm not sure if it's a psychological disorder, there is nothing obviously wrong. I've given her a 'poultry nutri-drops' the last 5 days and today took her to the vets who said she could see nothing obvious, looks like she's anorexic, but has given me some anti-biotics for her just to see if we can get her on the mend.
All joking aside, i cant believe she's still alive with the morsels she's been eating. Her crop isn't engorged though i can feel fluid and there's no smell from her mouth, so sour crop doesn't look to be an issue. her stool is white and pretty normal though looks like only 1 a day. She's very fragile weighing in at 500g but seems quite sturdy, she's a cross orpington/sussex.
Anyone got any clues..... we go on holiday on Sunday and need to get a little more sorted by then aaahhhhhh! Should i try the yoghurt and acv........?
thanks
