young pullet opening mouth very far and putting beak in the air

she's been doing this for about 1/2 hour every few minutes. Should I be worried? She's never done it before. She's about 4 1/2 weeks old.

sometimes this can mean they are overheated. Make sure she has plenty of water available inside and out.

It could be gapeworm or something lodged in her throat. But just as likely it's nothing, she's just yawning.

If you're worried you can take a flashlight and try to look down her throat. It's easier to to at night because they tend to be calmer then.
