Hello all,
New member here, been lurking for a few months since we started our backyard chicken flock! We got what we thought was one Leghorn, one barred rock, and two Rhode Island reds. At almost 20 weeks now and still no eggs. Worrying they're all roos!
But one red in particular is pretty obvious; all the signs but a friend with experience said it could still be a hen. I'm really not about sure about that!

It has a much bigger comb. More upright posture, skittish but bold, and making noises unlike the others.

Can anyone confirm what I already suspect? Thanks!

Addendum: the buff-colored chicken was the only yellow chick and was supposed to be a Leghorn. That one and the barred rock are the friendliest/least skittish.

We're in Broward County, South Florida. They have a nice sized outside area they get to rhoam in, and I'm starting to let them into the yard for an hour each day for more exploring.

Thanks again! Great website!

Wow, thank you!!!! So the barred rock I thought I had is a Dominique correct? And the buffer-colored one is the new Hampshire I'm guessing. The red that I'm worried is a roo looks like a hen? That would be such great news! The other red ran into the coop when I took the photo. Same look but a much smaller comb. I'll try and add a photo.

Thank you again, TOOO!

Correct for every one!

We crunched the numbers to be exact and they're actually only 18 weeks. So they're pretty young yet. Boy are they funny. Now I get why people who get chickens get so into it. They're like the pugs of the bird world, just plain funny!
Thanks everyone!
