I have a very young rooster who seems to be dangerous in mating with my hens. He will, with his beak, grab the hen by the back of her neck feathers but then shake side to side, causing her neck to be violently and potentially broken. It looks like he could kill my hen doing this It looks exactly what like I've seen a dog do when it catches a prey to kill it. I've seen him do this twice now. I've separated him for the time being, but let him roost at night (he's calm then). He seems quite distressed to be caged by himself and quite eager and relieved to roost near his siblings. (all females)

Has any one else witnessed this type of behavior? I'm not sure its ok behavior, or if my hens are really in jeopardy over his over enthusiasm. I would like to get him a new home but don't want anyone elses flock to be subjected to his 'style' of mating. I would have to guess, him being young, he's got a surplus of testosterone.

Does anyone recommend keeping young roosters away from hens until they, like, 'calm down'? Is he exhibiting dangerous behavior towards my hens? I have a rooster bachelor pad of 4 roosters that get along fine, but introducing him to them is like some sort of violent feeding frenzy. He will get beaten up by them. I don't want him killed or harmed, but I don't want him with my hens now either. What to do?

It if helps, he is a serama rooster, about 5 months old.

IF I keep a cockerel, I put him in a bachelor pad at 4 months old to grow up. IF I then choose to use him, after he is at least 1YO, I swap him with the current rooster at night.
I dont put up with aggression toward the girls, or people. If he is to hard on the girls (or folks), he goes to dumplings,,, I dont re-home bad roosters.
