Young rooster sporadic crowing

I have 5 hens and 1 confirmed rooster, all about 12 weeks old and raised together. Two mornings ago we heard him crowing about 5:40 AM.....they are locked in their coop at night and we let them out at 6:00 . The next morning exactly the same time, we heard crowing. Each time it lasted about 5 minutes. This morning we didn't hear anything. Is this pretty normal behavior... to crow sometimes at the same time then not at all? This is our first time with chickens. Any one have experience in this area with their young flock?

My 14 wk old roo was doing the same thing, He kept it to the very early morning, then would once in a while crow a bit later in the morning. Last two days he is now crowing around 5 in the afternoon in addition the to others....

They mpre or less crow when and if the mood strikes...ive got a hen that crow and boxks when squirels are in the yard or a cat is putside the fence

Mine just started crowing a few days ago. I figured out that if I go let him out to range right away he'll shut up lol.
