Young Rooster wont coop anymore?!! Help!

Maybe you can just put a little dog crate or cat crate with bedding out on your porch and see if he will go into it each night. When he is bedded down in it, just close the door and carry it (and him) in for then night. Release in the AM.

That is the best idea I could think of. I feel sorry for him, too. He is awfully cute! And lonely-looking....

Hmm, build a bachelor pad..... That Idea has merit. I like the photo of the little house, something like that might fit nicely into the run, in fact, I think I know just the spot.....

Thanks everyone, I think I know what I can do now! I will let you know how it goes!!

Well the little house for the broodies is very nice.I really think for xmas I am going to ask for tool so I can start to make some of my own brooders, nest boxes etc.

I hope the little bachelor pad works out for you.

The roof is hinged, so it lifts up for easy cleaning. And I'm not crazy about the sliding door. It gets bedding in the track, making it hard to slide. I'll probably replace it with a little hinged door before I use it again.

Update....

Well, here is a new twist! I went into the hospital unexpextedly last Sunday, was there until thursday, got out just in time for the wonderful ice storm to cut our power and freeze our world.

Strangely enuff, Red cooped himself monday, thru tonight, without a single fuss. My Signif Other put him in the first sunday. Now he is sitting back outside my window clucking at ME!

Chester is definetly being dominant, but the other young Roos coop just fine. Now I am starting to wonder if Red just wants to be close to me? Can roosters get crushes on people? Sheesh, just what I need!

We didnt build a bachelor pad yet, cause it seemed to problem had resolved....until now!!

Sorry to hear about your hospitalization. I do hope you are on the mend now.
I agree with the others, Chester is the problem. If you can't get a mini-coop built right now, I only have one suggestion.
Try taking the young roo into the coop at night after it's good and dark in there.
I basically do this with Lil'Bit every night. She can't see well and she's at the bottom of the pecking order. During the day she's fine when they're out free-ranging, but she has trouble when it's time to go back in the coop at night.
She struggles alot just to find a roost and then the others shove and push at her once she does manage to get on one. I go in at dark and place her on the roost and she's fine.
