Someone had asked what my young rouen drake looked like so I am posting the photos here. I could tell by voice a couple of weeks ago this was most likely a drake. Between that, his little drake feather starting to curl, his feathers lightening on his back and the white starting to appear on his neck, there is no denying Bungie is a boy (and a rather handsome one at that

We bought Bungie on March 14th and he was about 3 days old at the time.

His racing stripe is so cool. He also has a bit of a green sheen on his head. His neck is getting really thick too. It will be interesting to see what he ends up looking like.

HI Wifezilla, do the blue feathers imply male? Mine is looking just like yours (thanks for the pic!) and I noticed no quack yet, kinda peep like. Mine also has those blue feathers. I SO wanted him to be her. I think now I have 6 drakes and one hen :-0 unless my pekin turns out female!! I'll have to do something about that mix!

The blue feathers are on both, but if Bungie was a girl, there wouldn't be as much white showing up under the wing. The neck would also be more uniform colored. Bungie's is turning white lower down on the neck.

Here is what a full-grown female rouen looks like...
