Young Scovies Already Laying!

Keeper. Nice to see you here!

Ann, Could it be something else doing those eggs??????????

That seems nearly biologically impossible, as I think more on it.

My scovies from your place turned 14 weeks on Wed Sept. 2 and they are now in FULL MOLT PROCESS. (aka Pillowmaking

I know Blue Seal Turkey grower is real high protein. Maybe 28 %. If your babies got that from day one, maybe that's the cause--if it is really them laying (and I trust your keen judgement).

Thinking more on it, also, I think it best that my girls are not laying, and certainly not at 14 weeks old. Why? Because that could be a fine setup for a NASTY MULTIPLE CASE OF EVERTED OVIDUCT, which could end up landing them all in intensive care, then the stew pot.

But, still...........WOW

Artificial lighting for too many hours a day might force a duck to lay too young. Once they leave the brooder they should just be exposed to natural light until they are at least 20 weeks old.
That's according to the GWG
