It could be a vitamin deficiency or Mareks. Chickens with Mareks may lose balance and take a few steps backwards, and their wings may be used for balance. I would use some human B Complex vitamins 1/4 tablet daily crushed into some food or treat. He should have his food and water close to him within reach. A chicken sling may be of benefit part of the day to get him up, out of droppings, and in front of food and water. You can post a video to YouTube with a link posted here. Here are some pictures of homemade slings:

Here is a good read on Mareks disease:

It’s just looking to the side. He normally lays in my lap and has his head down.

So he can lift and turn his head normally? Do his toes curl under? It sometimes can take some time to find out if their is a leg injury, a leg deformity of slipped tendon, vitamin deficiency, or Mareks. The main thing is to keep him eating and drinking. More picture of him standing, or a video may be helpful.

anddd it may or may not have a symptom of whatever you call it. Sometimes, both feet stick out in front of it or just one stays and the other one sticks out.

Turning his head is okay. He’s eating and drinking fine. I don’t think it might be whatever you call it. Might be a slipped tendon. He was trampled along with some of the other chicks in the batch.

With the position of his legs sticking out in front, or one in front and one to the side, it sound a little more like mareks disease. Has he always had a problem walking?
