Young urban flockster

Hi y'all,

I'm a queer urban southerner in my early twenties and last week became the proud caretaker of 4 one-week-old chicks: 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Plymouth Barred Rock, 1 Black Australorp, and 1 Americauna. As one might expect, I've been doting on them nearly non-stop since!

I'm excited about my chickens and I'm excited about becoming part of the BYC community!

I have particular interests in food justice, permaculture, and small-scale urban farms/gardens and flocks.

Great to have you on the forum. I'm a young homesteader myself in the metro NY area (20 mins from the city) and I garden and raise chickens in my backyard. This stuff is addicting. Since getting chickens, I've subscribed to multiple magazines (Urban Farmer, Modern Farmer) and bought a bunch of books on raising animals, gardening and homesteading. I love it!
