My broody hatched 6 chicks this year from posted eggs. One of the youngsters is fluffy - feathers like a Silkie, but it's not a Silkie. Is this common? In theory it is a Langshan but the lady who bred the eggs said there was a small chance of another cockerel sneaking in with her ladies so she's not 100% sure (although very sure that it couldn't have been a Silkie cockerel). The chick is brownish black all over. I just wondered how common it is to see this trait in non-Silkies and whether it's likely to have come from two parental recessives or at least one spontaneous mutation? I am very much hoping it's a girl because I really want to keep it!

Pictures? Silkie feathering does happen in other breeds then silkie. I don’t know if it happens in Langshans. I have no clue if it could be a spontaneous mutation
