I buy the longer rebar at Home Depot and cut it to whatever length I need. The sides on a couple of my raised beds are coming apart, looks like the wood has rotted on the board ends. I started using t-posts to reinforce the sides, but needed more.
View attachment 4198320The ones at Lowe's are very thin, would probably crumble with one hammer blow, and are $5 each. I checked rebars, and even 2' are $5. Nope.
I have t-posts holding up some chicken wire, am going to exchange them with some nylon posts I have on hand, which are strong enough for lightweight fencing.
Making do with what I have. Once weeded this bed will be planted with carrots and collards.

Bolt cuttersyou do need something like an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel or a hacksaw.
Bolt cutters come in multiple sizes. The longer the handles, the more powerful they are.I have bolt cutters, but not enough strength to cut something as thick as a rebar. I use them mainly to cut cattle panels.
Mine have long handles. I put one handle on the ground, stand on it, and use both arms to push the second handle down. And that's for cutting cattle panels!Bolt cutters come in multiple sizes. The longer the handles, the more powerful they are.
