How's it taste?

Never tried it. Gave one to my doctor who is fascinated with white pumpkins. He said the flesh is white.

The sides on a couple of my raised beds are coming apart, looks like the wood has rotted on the board ends. I started using t-posts to reinforce the sides, but needed more.

The ones at Lowe's are very thin, would probably crumble with one hammer blow, and are $5 each. I checked rebars, and even 2' are $5. Nope.

I have t-posts holding up some chicken wire, am going to exchange them with some nylon posts I have on hand, which are strong enough for lightweight fencing.

Making do with what I have. Once weeded this bed will be planted with carrots and collards.

I buy the longer rebar at Home Depot and cut it to whatever length I need.
3/8" x 20' is just $7.77 which makes it around 39¢/linear ft

1/2" x 20' is $13.76 or 69¢/lf

Much more affordable than buying precut but you do need something like an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel or a hacksaw.

I have bolt cutters, but not enough strength to cut something as thick as a rebar. I use them mainly to cut cattle panels.

Bolt cutters come in multiple sizes. The longer the handles, the more powerful they are.

Mine have long handles. I put one handle on the ground, stand on it, and use both arms to push the second handle down. And that's for cutting cattle panels!

I don't have upper body strength.

Repaired the raised bed, but it's insect damage, ants. Not termites.

I'll be rebuilding this one with concrete blocks, but for this fall's garden it should be good.

And I weeded bed #1 as well, it just needs a top off with compost.

Now I can plant!!

I'd never be able to use bolt cutters on 1/2" rebar and it would be a struggle on the 3/8 for me unless I had the ones that are quite long. Then I wouldn't have enough use living in the city as I do to justify the cost.
I can see how they'd be quite handy for someone with lots of land and a big garden and/or many projects. I'll bet R2elk not only has them but they've been invaluable at times. Eh?

I have a small pair and rarely ever use them. When I was working we had a long handled pair that was used to cut a lot of rebar.
