We have a full bath in the center of our house. It has no exterior wall. No windows, it has an exhaust fan. It is also our safe room for extreme hurricanes or tornados.Because no one wants a bathroom in the middle of the house. Can you imagine running water lines and electricity through the middle of the house? Not to mention the plumbing. I don't know about you but I don't want to hear someone flush the toilet then that water running through the pipes as I'm sitting in my livingroom
Did you build this house yourself? I'm curious if it is insulated and that's why you don't hear water runningWe have a full bath in the center of our house. It has no exterior wall. No windows, it has an exhaust fan. It is also our safe room for extreme hurricanes or tornados.
We do not hear water running, flushing or shower running from other rooms. Can only hear if you are standing outside the door.
One of the reason I chose this floor plan because this room makes an ideal safe room. It's small with no outer walls. A tiny bit of peace of mind when you have no basement.
My house was built in 1970. It is just under 1100 sq ft, small by any standards. I have a very small bathroom in the middle of the house, no outer wall. On the other side is a half bath (toilet and sink only) with an outer wall, but the water lines are on the inside wall. If you're in the bedroom you can hear flushing, but not in other parts of the house. Maybe the older construction is more soundproof.Did you build this house yourself? Our home is a modular. They had over a hundred floor plans to look at. The company built them as they were ordered. You could make any changes to the floor plan you wanted which was different than most other companies we talked to at the time. You could extend room sizes in 16" increments, add more insulation and they also would do 2x6 walls instead of 2x4. We did have extra insulation in the attic and floor and increased wind resistance but none of the interior walls are insulated. I know this because it was brought here in sections and finished onsite. This makes construction go faster because there are fewer weather delays. It also let me see inside most walls. I tried to stay out of their way but watched the whole process on site. We were living in our camper and barn onsite because of loosing our home during Hurricane Floyd (1999). We lived this way for 1 year. I was used to camping, had done so for years. It's different in your own yard! lolDid you build this house yourself? Interesting. I would have watched, too! Not something you see every dayOur home is a modular. They had over a hundred floor plans to look at. The company built them as they were ordered.
