Your 2025 Garden

I found a tomato starting to show color while working in the garden yesterday.

The rest of the peas are shelled in the refrigerator. Plants have been pulled. When I get this bed cleaned up I will plant pickling cucumbers.

@fuzzi I estimated the length of my pea trellis wrong. It is only 12 ft not the 16-18 ft I mentioned. I have ended up with a total of 3 gallons of shelled peas.
I think the trellis seems longer when I am picking! :lau
I pulled my pea vines last night, full of powdery mildew. Some of the pods were powdered as well, so I rinsed them all, placed in a pastic bag, then sprayed a little white vinegar over them, shook to distribute the vinegar, put in refrigerator. I'll shell them tonight.

More beans! I like the varieties I bought from Seed Savers. I think the greens are an Amish variety.

First sowing on left, second on right

I'll try to freeze this week's beans tonight, too.

Pumpkin vines are taking off! I put a temporary barrier around the small elderberry plant.

In all my years of gardening I've never grown pumpkins before. Wow.

Planted sweet potatoes.

Shield bugs and aphids have arrived, but so has the cavalry!

We need rain so badly. Need to be here and start the irrigation going but today we are going to make the run over to Greenfire Farms for the rare opportunity to pick up some chicks at their post office instead of having them shipped and given the tour of the south by the postal service. I really enjoy seeing the progress of so many gardens that the rest of you are having. We did get our first head of orange cauliflower a couple of days ago. Normally cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower are fall crops here. We are all set to plant when the time comes. We still have a lot of time to plant peas, beans, beets, and carrots for a fall crop. Even tomatoes for a fall crop here. I think a dozen Improved Celebrity tomatoes will work out for us later as Ma likes to use her countertop electric pressure canner now. With her no on oxygen we will not convert to a gas range as we had planned. Carry on and grow good stuff now ya hear?

We will be have a few days of cooler weather. Today will be low 80's but then highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. I'm sure afterwards it will be hazy, hot and humid until possibly October.

No gardening for me today. A few chores to do then Awards Night at my grandson's school. He will be graduating high school June 6. Time flies! He is a good kid and I am so proud!

32°F again this morning. Yes, more frost.
Wishing some warmth your way!
