One of Seed Savers' new offerings is "celtuce." Does anyone have any experience with that?

I want to try that this year.

I had never heard of celtuce until this year. According to the Seed Savers catalog, it's also known as stem or asparagus lettuce and is often used in Asian cuisine. And, it has a "slightly bitter, yet refreshing, flavor."

could you update on how you find the cinder blocks vs. the wood beds? i used old scaffolding boards for mine. in fairness, they lasted a pretty long time, but it's time to switch them out. they're getting bad. i do like the wood because i put cup hooks on the outside all around to attach bird netting (mostly to keep out the neighbours' cats. and now chickens) but i'm wondering if blocks or concrete curbing would be better and not have to replace again.

I put netting/plastic/row covers over a cattle panel hoop, clothes-pinning the fabric to the hoop structure.

i'm a little jealous of cattle panels. we can't get them here. at least not with such big spaces. there's something similar but they only have 2 inch squares.

i use clothes pegs sometimes too!
in the summer when the greenhouse is full, i use them to clip bird netting around the door. it lets air in and keeps chickens out.

also. it looks like i'm doing scaffolding planks again.
the husband came out and i showed him how bad it's gotten and he is on the phone with the scaffolding man. maybe next time we'll do blocks.

these all have to be replaced.
i don't even want to plant stuff until they are. they are just breaking up and caving in.
