Your 2026 Garden

Pics
I feel this so much I always start with the best intentions of organizing and labeling everything and then after a few weeks it just turns into straight chaos gardening hopefully I planted the correct thing next to the correct thing at least that's what I think XYZ is LOL
I take a photo when I plant.

If tags get lost or damaged I can look at the photos.

One of several reasons I don't free range. 4 houses on my fence line & they all have dogs; mostly large ones. Rottweiler, German Shepherd, & a Bloodhound or Great Dane are the large ones. There's a couple of smaller ones too. Then there's the feral cats, large squirrels & a couple of hawks live in a tree 2 houses to the west.
The 3 Bantam hens I currently have live in a 9' x12' coop with a 6' x 6' covered run. Before we acquire 3 more Bantams we will be adding a 9' x 6' run on the other side of the coop. That makes the limit of 6 hens allowed by the town's regulations.
I must be blessed. My indoor/outdoor cat and the chickens and ducks either ignore each other or sunbathe together. The doggos go crazy after squirrels and the occasional rat. Hawks that circle the neighborhood see the big white fluff monsters and decide to dine elsewhere.

The closest to a confrontation that ever occurs is when there's nice weather and Sherry - who loves dog kibble - steps inside the kitchen for a treat. Elly (momma dog) run up to her with a single deep, big dog bark. She'll never touch Sherry but she stands guard over her food with one huge paw on either side of the dish and a fierce glare on her face. No snarling, no bare teeth, just a no nonsense look of back off chicken.

I'd be cautious with neighbor pets like you describe as well. Property type guard dogs, hunting dogs, and feral carnivores with no protector animals of their own. Ay yai yai!

But they're miniature hens and should only count maybe as 2/3 each. 🤣🤣🤣

What kind do you have?

Between pictures I've seen people post on here and the real life one I saw at the county fair last autumn, I've absolutely fallen in love with seramas. If I ever move to the country, I'm gonna get one and name him Little Man. Then I could listen to that cute little crow every day. 😍

Started my seedlings inside already. It's a little early for that in Ohio but I have issues every year with leggy seedlings so I'm hoping to give them an even better head start this year, hoping they will grow stronger

I started seedlings last Thursday. Then I noticed the weather outside was gorgeous. Checking the forecast is going to be highs in the 70s to low 80s for the next 10 days with overnight lows from the mid-50s to low 60s every night except Thursday. Experimenting with this this year, my grow light is 93 million miles above the little greenhouse seed trays. 🌞

Up to the point that cute little crow turns into a get outta my space.
