----- UPDATE - We'll be accepting submissions until the end of day Sunday 9/18! -----

For the last two calendars we've chosen from our many POW submissions. This year I think we'll try something different and take submissions directly for the calendar and then have the community vote on which ones the like the best.

We're getting an early start to make sure we get some really great submissions. We'll probably take submissions for a few months and then when we get closer to late Fall we'll choose the best ones and have the community vote on their favorites.

So, here's what to do:

1) Find a HIGH RESOLUTION picture that is very clear, clean, and doesn't have people in it. Pictures of chickens are preferred, but if you have a fantastic picture you think would be a great fit for a specific month, you're welcome to submit it.
2) Upload your picture to BYC and post the image here as your submission. We'll still need the super high resolution images if your pic is chosen, but for judging we just need you to post a regular sized image.
3) No watermarks, texts, etc. on the image
4) By submitting your picture you agree that you are granting BYC license to edit and use the image in the calendar, promotions, etc.
5) Limit of 2 submissions per user, so choose your very best pictures!!

Remember, make sure you have a clear high resolution image (at LEAST 1200 pixels wide... but more is better)! Even if your picture is chosen and you don't have a high resolution for printing, we can't accept it.

Here is an image of last year's calendar pics:

Looking forward to your wonderful picture submissions!!!

A few updates:

The sizes we require for print (in the calendar) are much larger than what our upload system will support, so just make sure you have a BIG version of the image on your computer and then upload it here and our system will resize it for viewing and voting on the forum!

We've been known to send a free calendar to those who get their pics chosen... so, maybe it will happen again this year.

Remember, only 2 submissions per member, and make sure you have a VERY HIGH RESOLUTION image on your computer that we can use for print!

Regarding copyright & license:
I've received a few emails regarding clarification regarding granting BYC license to use the photos. Here is some more detail:

We are very sensitive and careful about respecting copyright of other peeps' work. We want to make sure we have explicit permission to use the photo for the calendar and for other BYC related uses.

We won't sell or give away your image to 3rd parties.

You retain your ownership of the image and can use it however you want. You're simply granting us use of the image for BYC related purposes.

Hi! I can probably print these pictures larger. I've changed my pictures since i first posted them.
Here is my blue laced red wyandotte chick that is 5 weeks old. She was stretching her wings in this picture!!!!

1) If we already had a pic chosen as POW this year and thought they were already in the running for the calendar, do we need to re-submit them?

2) How many entries can we make?

ETA - Here's my two submissions:

1) This is Tango, my Mille Fleur Bantam Cochin hen. She thoroughly enjoyed her week as POW this past January, and would love the opportunity to represent BYC again on it's 2012 calendar. This was her POW pic:

2) This is Cracker Jack (CJ), my Miller Fleur Bantam Cochin roo. As you can see, he is the sunshine of our lives here at Coopa Cabana, and he would love to shed some Colorado sunshine on the BYC 2012 calendar:

Great questions (as always)!!

Yes, it would be advisable to resubmit great quality large pictures for the calendar even if the pic was already submitted and/or used for the POW.

How many entries... how about 2 max per user! (updated the rules)
