Your dogs !?!

I have four doxies all so very different personalities....except the house training part is pretty normal for all in a bad way. They can be kid friendly if raised with kids. They are very barky. I have two boys that are good hunters mice, snakes, frogs whatever they can find. One female that will die to cull a chick, duck and has punctured and culled baby kittens. She is ten and most spoiled and a big barker....I can't even open the oven door without her barking these days cause it squeaks.

I also just got a Saint bernard and they are very protective and kid friendly and family orientated. They are big dogs they don't eat anymore than any other large breed. They don't need much exercise a brisk walk not big barkers. Very loyal. Bad thing is their life span is 7-10 not very long and can have eye and hip problems. I think any dog raised and trained right can be a family kid dog.

She is growing like a weed like gaining 5 pounds per week and will be almost her full size at 9 months but she is so smart and cute.

Edited to add her name: Symphony and this pic was from a few weeks ago.

I wouldn't get a Min Pin if I were you. Min Pins are known to be nippy and if you have young kids, I wouldn't suggest it. I wouldn't suggest a breed per say, but I would look at a shelter, tell the people what you want and they will match you up with a dog. Or maybe, just go out on a limb and let a dog choose you. It always works for me

petfinder.com is a good place to look.

My #1 favorite is Bullmastiff but hubby thinks they are too big for our small house and I have to wait until we get the farm.

My #2 favorite is Miniature schnauzers. We have two black ones that are sweet a sugar, but they have two totally different views on life. Wynton likes to just chill, and HERDS chickens. Dazey on the other hand is a good lap dog, but adventerous, and CHASES the chickens.

Two favorite breeds are Belgian Tervuren and Pitbull/American Staffordshires. Neither are good for first time dog owners, or timid owners. Both have high energy and require training. I have both, and neither are trustworthy around the chickens (both have killed them before),but neither were raised around them, either. I've been a vet tech for 20 years, and been around a lot of different breeds. Will say that overall, sharpeis have given me the most problems.

Pacetruckguy, I totally agree! Another good one is

My favorite breed? Akitas. Hands down. But not the average ones you see in pics, no.. . . Too many Akitas are ruined nowadays. Also I would put another note saying they are NOT for everyone and require a very experienced owner.

Next in line are Pitbulls or any bully breed, really.

I have had various dogs big and small. I have become very pleased with my Boston Terrier. They don't call them the "American Gentlemen" for nothing. They make a great companion dogs. He has been the easiest puppy to raise. It is a pleasure to take him places and he looks smart, is entertaining, and low maintainance. He also plays fair with the kids. google them!

Boxer all the way

I LOVE boxers! And he is SO good with the chickens. Took me ONE day to train him and that was only for a few hours and he just knew that the chickens were off limits to him from that day on. He did try to eat one at start of training too

Freaked me right out and I thought I had MANY days of training ahead of me but he was so smart about it.

I've always liked big dogs, not such a fan of lap dogs or yappy dogs. I've only have one dog in my lifetime, since I'm young, and she's the sweetest pup! She's 9, and she's a mutt. Chocolate lab and pointer mix.

I love huskies, alaskan malamutes, australian shepherds, and finnish spitz... (not sure how to do plural)
