Your dogs !?!

I would say they can be Yippy but I wouldn't say they are know to be nippy. I have had great luck with MinPins - I got my originals from a lady named Deb Dierking - http://www.dierkings.com/index.html
My wife and I always take the time to ensure our dogs are well trained and so far all of our dogs have been great companions of my 2 children as well as wonderful guardians of the chickens.
My favorite dog was my St. Bernard (Goliath) but have always loved doberman Pinchers and Minpin's. I currently have one of each (Navarre and Gabriel)

I currently have a lab, a doberman x, a presa canario, three pit bulls, and an american bulldog

in order of chicken friendly-ness they are

lab(but shes a duck dog so she knows not to touch em unless told)
doberman x
american bulldog
1 of the 3 pit bulls
presa
other two pitbulls ( current count Pitties-9 chickens -9)

I actually suggest a pitbull if you are willing to devote an hour a day to working with him/her the first year of life and commit to working the dog thru a Canine good citizen test. Due to their high pain tolerance they are good dogs with older kids ( and some younger ones i've seen -but i dont advocate dogs and kids under 10 being left alone) they can handle the occasional mis step or trip over in good spirits and wont usually snap at someone who steps on a paw.

but then again I'm a recent convert to the breed and love them.
