Your experience with egg layers, how good are they?

My Girls:

Jersey Giant - Lays daily and started laying weeks before the others.

Australorps - Lays daily - Medium brown eggs

Buff Orp & Speckled Sussex - Almost daily - Medium eggs

Leghorns(White) - Daily HUGE white eggs. The eggs are bigger then the hens.

Easter Eggers - 5 a week - Small to medium green/blue

All my girls are 7 months old, eggs get bigger all the time, and they have
artificial light 16 hours per day.

Yeah, that would be great to add them in for Feb. I'll also take an average of what info I get.

Everybody try to be quanitative with your replies. I need numbers (very best you can) and not mixes, except for sex-links of course.

Paganfish...I got mine as chicks from a breeder in Missouri, but he has since died. I've seen eggs on ebay and eggbid sometimes.

What about Silver Laced Wyandotts? Anybody have experience with those? How good a layer were your's? What size eggs?

As for other breeds, I got the sweetest silkies from this one lady in 4H, then got some from a feed store and they were little hellions. Strain is VERY important when it comes to behavior.

I have four 7-month-old hens.

My RIR is the most consistent layer--probably 13/14 days. But her eggs are medium sized, at best.

My BO and BR both lay larger eggs--probably 12/14 days.

My Australorp is the worst layer--probably 9/14 days. But her eggs are beautiful, she's beautiful, and she's the friendliest bird I have.

well I have not had my chickens long and out of the 16 I have i only have one that is/was laying.
she is a Buff Rock got her around easter she laid her first egg in sept. her eggs are not that big right now only about 2 inches but they are a nice light brown color thick shell and very tastey.
as far as Miss Peaches goes she is a fairly friendly girl not flighty very big body, she has this thing for pecking at my pant legs if I am not talking to her LOL
so for me I think she is a great egg layer I would get more if I had the chance.
