I am very curious as to which hatchery is the most respected and beloved. There are so many, and people have various opinions. I would like to hear which hatchery is your favorite, and WHY.

I've used My Pet Chicken for many years and have always had great experiences with them. All the chicks arrived healthy and were properly sexed. They have become a lot more expensive in the past few years. I can't say if their stock is really worth the price or not but you can try and do your research. I've also ordered ducklings from Murray McMurray and I'm happy with them as well.

Along with breed selection/quality and pricing, make sure to factor in which hatcheries are closest to you. The shorter their trip has to be to get to you the better.

I have been super happy w Murray McMurray (huge selection and easy to adjust orders when needed)

Also happy with Ideal Poultry (best value)

Mt Healthy is great also, especially for small orders. They are the priciest of the 3 and harder to reach customer service.

I don’t think there’s a hatchery I haven’t ordered from but my fav would be chickens for backyards I still have that glw roo from there’s line going in all my birds lol ideal used to be good when they added peanuts made ordering worth it now they dont do that. So I don’t buy from there. The rest prices are outrageous esp mpc and Meyer won’t order from either as they get their stock from junk breeders.

Good point. I guess it is best to find a good hatchery that is closest to you. However, I live in Maryland and ordered a started pullet from a farm in Montana and received the chicken in just one day. And she is healthy.
