Your killings me smalls

So I went out to see if we had an egg yet, looked in the coop due to Barbecue yelling at me the other day, and yep she yelled at me again. Noticed Goldie was not with the other chickens so I looked around and could not find her. Started to panic a bit Look again then decided before I panic anymore to look in the coop maybe she was on the other side and I did not see her considering I just peeked in. Yep she was in the coop and climbing into the nest box with Barbecue. And then she started settling in and stole a golf ball right out from underneath Barbecue :lau
So I let them be went to pick up my little one from preschool. When I got back Barbecue was out but not Goldie, however she had moved over to Barbecues side. It's funny that she has now switched sides of the nesting box (last 2 eggs were layed on Barbecues side). Maybe she got tired of having to relocate the golf balles because Barbecue keep moving them to her side

Such coop drama! I mixed things up a bit yesterday/last night. Moved my broilers (my cronies) in with my coop flock. I couldn't handle their activeness. Yes, that is a word. Ever since I threw away the handbook on raising broilers and went to the Happy Ranch way to raising animals, the broilers fly, jump, talk, run, and waddle.

My coop flock wasn't too keen on having the little guys in there, but they are straightened u and starting acting more mature. Plus they get more food, which they likey. :)

Still no eggs. Although my young cockerel is now squatting.

This whole thread is funny !

I only have one laying now. She does NOT like to have the fake egg in the nest box so the other has 2 fake eggs in it and I want to see if she will only lay in the empty side.
Maybe the fake side will attract the other 3 ? who knows.

Pecan is laying (glad it isn't nuts lol) and only occasionally does the egg song. One the 1st egg, then the 4th egg and nothing since.
BUT she is noisy other times during the day AND has learned to get out of the back yard to go to the front yard when I am not home. Thanks to her, they all get locked in the run when I have to leave for more then 1/2 hr.

i just cant believe Pecan is giving you eggs and not nuts, but it does sound to me like she is trying to at least make her eggs nut size. talk about a thoughtful chicken you have. Hehe
It only takes one to ruin all the fun for the rest

LOL @hlhutchinson Pecan is the only one laying AND she asks like the Roo. Makes all sorts of racket if there is someone close by when I am not there. To the point that I call her a HIM, which might get me in trouble with the town if someone thinks I have a Roo
:lau
"why Yess officer, that "Roo" lays eggs, it is a Miracle !"
