Having been out of town for a while, then collecting my own eggs, I had not checked prices until I casually glanced at eggs in Aldi. I was shocked to see them go for $4 and up.

I have 5 hens that lay regularly, no production lines, just 'casual' layers. I have plenty of eggs for our needs, I can give a few away to our friends.

However, I am considering adding a few this spring. (chicken math?)
I am sure I won't though, because I would need to do some restructuring in the setup. Not sure if I can get that done. life is rough right now.

has anybody - ordinances and zoning permitting - enlarged their flock to deal with the insanity of the market right now?
or are you going the other way, reducing the size to combat feed bills?

There are some legalities I need to overcome to sell my eggs publicly, but I've had to raise my "friends and family" price from $5 for 18 to $5 for a dozen.

I've also got an extra, early hatch in my incubator to, hopefully, hit the demand for chicks and POL pullets.
You’re reading my mind! I’m not quite up to 5/dozen yet, but the rest is spot on. Quit copying my paper. 😬

Just checked with my Niece, she says eggs here run $8 - $10/doz and $13+ for 18ct at the stores ... This is HI prices. Eggs sold on CL (free range) going for $5 - $8/doz. I don't buy eggs, got 3 faithful hens; honestly get 20 per week 💖 Which I sell to my girlfriend (her chickens on strike) $4/doz plus empty egg cartons since she buys eggs for now. She turns around sells for $5/doz to her customers to keep them interested ... 3 out of 7 just recently started laying. I wanted (sold-out) to get some GLW to add to what I have, I don't need the eggs but think they're pretty.

Feed prices here went up Flock Raiser 50# $35 ... Layer 35# $42
