Just to add to my previous comments. at about 2 1/2 weeks old, I still find the Coturnix to be very mild-mannered, calm, and actually, the seem kind of lazy. They spend a lot of time just laying around, all sprawled out like puppies. It's rather cute, actually. I guess when they don't have to work very hard for a living, they have leisure time.

I am trying to think of ways to stimulate them a bit more -- giving them seed heads of various grasses to peck at, leafy greens, insects, that sort of thing, but frankly, they aren't all that interested at this stage in anything except the mealworms. We'll see if they get more lively as time goes on.

I have both Buttons and Cotrunix. The Cotrunix are easy to handle. Don't try to hold them. They will sit in your hand and will allow you to pet them and scratch their necks. They do not like to have a hand over them that restricts them. I don't know why, but as long as we just allow them to sit in our hands and don't try to "hold" them they are great.

My buttons on the other hand, do not care to be handled. I have several that we have rasied from the egg and they really don't like to be held. If I just put them in my hand they might sit for a min. or two, but they will fly off. Now I have about 2 dozen or so birds so they have not been handled as much as 1 or 2 birds would be, so that may make a difference. I have heard that if you have just a single button, that you can tame them, but if you have more than one housed together it will be hard to do.
