Your Thoughts on Belly-Button Piercings

I agree with you entirely and completely and wholely DragonEggs! I have 1 tattoo currently on my left wrist, the outline of a heart. But it means something to me. And I'm proud of it. I don't intentionally show it off but when people ask I tell. I'm planning on more tattoos as I get older. Specifically hoof prints up my other arm in memory of my horse, Pal.

Worst ever? My eyebrow piercing was ripped out by my dog at the time (Lab). Worst pain ever, I have a nasty scar but I just tell people I fought off a wild beast

As far as that goes... it's just decoration. No different than eyeliner or hairspray, or even clothing really... just more permanent. Some know what they want and so go for the Forever Path (or at least think they do, can you say Tattoo-Be-Gone) others aren't so sure about keeping the same 'look' for life and stick to temporary. Even hair dye comes in permanent and temp bottles. *shrug* I may not want it for myself, but in the end it's the person doing the spackling (makeup) or needling (tats and pierce) that has to live with it...

Good thing hair grows back. I saw a guy today with a mullet-hawk. Thats right, a MOWHAWK and MULLET! I thought about pointing him down the hair products aisle and suggesting a blue dye kit to go with it. Tell me you wouldn't rather have a belly button piercing than THAT! I keep trying to think of the punchline in that... Punk by day, redneck by night? LOL

Makes me think of something I saw on disney channel once where they were talking about skorts. "Skirt in the front and shorts in the back. It's like a mullet for your butt." I think I died that day.

To each their own. I stay quiet and try not to giggle till someone is out of earshot. Most people don't extend that curtesy, which often leads me to laugh more hysterically than they are right along with them, which often draws even bigger looks of "Weirdo".

Guess I just handle constructive criticism well.

LoL, you should see the scars I have from things lke running into trees or being stabbed by forks. Somehow I debate if telling people I was bit by a monkey sounds better than I was stabbed with a fork....

Redhen, Im SURE you look better with a bellybutton ring than some of the girls I bellydanced with. But then again I thought they were all beautiful too.

That is a bad spot for a piercing..... I have had my nose, lip, and tounge all done, but I never considered belly button, it just seems like a spot that would be hard to heal.

Oh lmfao I have a big scar on my leg from being kicked by a boy I liked in 7th grade LOL And others from tripping and falling, running into things, I have scar on my forehead from CHICKEN POX ha

Nicely said DragonEggs. What people do to and with their bodies is their choice and not ours to judge. I don't expect everyone to like what I wear or how I cut my hair, so I don't expect them to like or appreciate what I choose to do with my body. My 17 year old niece got her lip pierced last week and I had to go with her to run interference with her grandparents the first time they saw it. As soon as her grandpa started making what I call his "icky" face I reminded him he has tattoos he's had since the Korean War. When her grandma started to make snide comments I reminded her of a few youthful indiscretions that she will wear the rest of her life too... at least the ring can be removed if she chooses too. My own generation,, the late 70's and the 80's saw the introduction of mass ear piercings,, the cartilage, the entire edge of the ear, etc. The only time I think anyone has a right to complain about someone else's body art is when it is vulgar, pornographic or graphically violent depictions. Those are only worn in public view to garner a strong reaction from people so they have no right to complain when they get what they want.

I have my tongue pierced and it's my favorite piercing, it took 2 days of non-eating to heal, but compared to the topic at hand - a bellybutton piercing takes months, maybe a year or more....
I kinda like the fact that most workplaces ban tongue piercings, but unless you are sticking it out they NEVER know about it
