The rule specifically says "small birds."

I will ignore the EE as there is no standard, so there is no way to determine their weight. The San Diego Zoo website lists the weight of the largest macaw as up to 3.7 lb, on another site I found a different macaw species weight listed at 4.2 lb. Either of these weights is slightly larger than the largest bantams, and about on par with the smaller breeds of large fowl. Considerably smaller than the buff orpington and RIR, whose weights are 8 & 6.5 lb according to Henderson's Chicken Breed Chart.

Yes, market turkeys and geese, ostrichs and emu weigh considerably more, but it would be unusual to find them kept in a "bird cage" setting. If maintained as pets they would almost certainly be kept in a pen or kennel.

Bald and golden eagles weigh 10.6 & 10 lbs, respectively, and are listed as "very large" on whatbird.com. A red tail hawk at 2.3 lb is listed as large. A great blue heron is 5.7 lbs. A canada goose is 8.4 lbs. These species encompass the sizes of your birds and no one could consider any of them "small."

I've got a thing about HOA rules

. Glad I dont live in one!

Good luck in keeping your girls and sometimes if you can, have the board pay you and your chickens a visit, show them the coop and the set up and talk to them about how Seattle, LA, etc all have their restrictions on having chickens and how many they are allowed to have.

If you can, get a couple of Seramas or OEs, they are smaller than parrots!
