I was cleaning out my waterer this morning , you know with my fingers going round and round trying to catch the poop .... and I thought who would have thought I’d end up here?

What have you done as you tended to your flock that’s yucky or strange to others?

Here’s another one ;

While gathering eggs you see a big poop in the sand ... do you
A-pick it up with your hand?
B-go get the scoop ?

I used my hand ... I have water and antibacterial soup in my coop

Tell me your fast and efficient ways to tend to your hens health and well being .... then go wash your hands

My Barred Rocks get the poopiest butts!!! Ugg, I've given them bootie baths and gently worked out the poop clumps with my bare hands. None of my other breeds get the "Dread Lock Butts" like the BR's do.

This is not chicken related, but with my little geriatric Dutch rabbit, I would regularly have to bathe his butt too, and the easiest way was to climb in the bathtub with him (I was fully clothed).

I would sit him, between my legs, with a little water in the tub, and clean his nether regions. He was very old,(10) and only daily medications, so needless to say, he wasn't very tidy. I was literally loosening the water softened poops from around his genitalia. He never bit me, or panicked, or struggled. I managed to bond him with a sweet, young thing (he was neutered), and between the both of us, he stayed a bit cleaner, and lived another happy year.

I can't believe I confessed this.

That made an interesting visual thanks for sharing.

Swiping the shavings out of the bottom of the chick waterer with my fingers, then turning it upside down to "gently" shake some clean water from the reservoir into it for a quick rinse before dumping ... and ending up with grungy water all over my clothes... usually when I'm already late!
Oh - and sneaking out in my PJs to let the roos out in the morning, knowing there won't be anyone else out there at that hour ... and sheepishly waving at a neighbor enjoying a cup of coffee. I SWEAR they must plan it!

Yup, had all of the experiences of the blasting hose all over the face, huge wet poop stuck to the bottom of my sandal that then oozes up and gets on my feet, picking poop off my chicks butts, bathing my hens and washing their butts and then having them flap wildly and cover me ALL over with the dirty water..... I could go on and on. Love them all anyway:love Oh, and I do chew up nuts for my baby chicks and feed that to them.... :oops:
