Hi, I'm Zach and I'm new to chickens and backyardchickens.com. Thanks in advance for all the help and advise that I'll be asking for and receiving. I've been on the site for a few months now gathering information for building our coop and raising our little cluckers.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am. I got my first 6 in mid April.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 19. 6 that are 6 weeks old, 6 that are around 13 weeks, and 7 that are 19 weeks old.
(3) What breeds do you have?
1 white leghorn, 1 golden Wyandotte, 1 silver Wyandotte, 1 buff Orpington, 1 black sex link, 8 Black Australorps, 3 Easter Eggers, and 3 Ameraucanas.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy gardening, being outdoors, dirt biking, mountain biking, road biking, atv riding, kayaking, camping, etc.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Young family of 3. Me (26), Rachael, my wife, (25), and Everett, our son (1). We have a Goldendoodle named Bailey who is 3. We recently bought 12 acres of land in West Lafayette, Indiana and chickens are our first take a homesteading with animals.
I'm a web developer for Purdue University (not the chicken company (Perdue)). My wife is a registered nurse.
