Doesn't every man want to be a chick magnet?

I LOVE the pictures of Tom and the chickens Cyn! Those are priceless pics! The chickens all look so content and happy to be around him. He's a chick magnet, just like you said!

Glad to hear that Zane is trying so hard and so relieved to hear that the infection looks like it's gone completely!

Ya gotta love a roo with HEART! Zane's that guy! Oh, those pics with your girls & DH are just the neatest! You can tell your flock loves you, Cyn!

I love 'em right back, Wynette. These ladies are so special, as are Dutch, Mace and Suede. They keep me from being a very bad girl. Seems the world is on fire and everyone is upset all the time (myself included), but when I spend time with them, watching them do normal chicken things, they have a calming effect. But, I'm preaching to the choir here, aren't I?

La La La, Ti Da Da Da.....

Save us bunches on therapy during FIL's illness and death. Anytime life gets difficult, I find myself sitting with the girls for my session! LOL

Glad to hear reassuring news on Zane!

hmmm...I wonder if there is a way to splint his leg for brief periods of time to stretch out those structures, they are certainly contracted due to disuse. I'll have to think about that while I'm waiting out the noreaster that is limiting our vacation kayaking.... would need to be VERY careful not to invoke pressure or friction sores that might invite back infection. I might have to play with some splinting material when I get back home; won't my chickens just love me. Have done this for my dogs, but never chickens.

A brief update on Zane today, if anyone has been wondering about him: To start on a positive note, that last strong antibiotic really kicked the infection out of the hock area-THANK YOU, Doc Brown! The actual news is no news. We are doing therapy and giving him baby aspirin, but there is no improvement in the leg. The toes on that foot will not bend upward/are very stiff and straight. He has no feeling in that foot, but when we try to gently flex his leg out straight, he jerks back and struggles. There is pain in the hock area, but it's not getting any more flexible. We finally gave up today and I sat on the couch with my sweet baby Zane in my lap, him napping with his head hanging over my arm. He's just the most gentle soul I've ever seen. I wish I could do more/better for him. We've been doing this for a month now.
