Zane... An Update for Those Interested

Oh, gee, Jean, did you have the surgery? How'd it go? Doc Brown was wondering if electrical stimulation would work on Zane. My DH informs me that we actually have his mother's tinge unit! The family must have given it to him for his back, so this is a new step in Zane's therapy we're going to try. What we wont do for our feathered loved ones!

Nope my surgery has been changed to the 30th of Oct and so I can still type. They said I will be able to use my elbow and my hands right away just don't move the shoulder. We will see, don't think for a minute that I won't be on as soon as possiable.

Been off as I had our lions club harvest dinner this past week end 250 plus served and 3 cooks. And yesterday me and my sister made 250 pasties (carrots, potatoes, rutabegas, onions and ground chuck with seasonings all encased in a crust and baked). So I have been tired.

I love my tins unit, just start out on very low and see what he can take. It is kind of like the tingling when your hands and feet fall asleep just a little stronger. The higher you go the more the jolt but boy it works.

I wasn't sure how to spell it. It's a TENS unit, I found out, a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Tinge made sense-went with electricity, LOL! Anyway, today it rained cats and dogs all day and DH was in a foul (definitely not fowl!) mood, plus I didnt feel great, either. Poor Zane was relegated to his dog kennel all day long, which I really hate, though it rarely happens. I like to hold him and talk to him and he seems to like it, too; at least, when we aren't poking and prodding him.

Cyn,
I bet it wil help him, I was using one after my knee surgery years ago before all the advances to the unit and it helped.

Oh, Jean, I will be glad when this is all over for you.

I think you need to fence off part of your porch, Cyn. Just for Zane to enjoy the outdoors.

Maybe put a rocking chair inside the fenced in area for you.

We can take the playpen out onto the deck for him, Carrie. Usually, he stays most of each day in the separation pen that is connected to the main pen-it's also covered so hawks cant reach him, as he's handicapped and cant get away. We just weren't up to going out to bring him up to the house today in the pounding rain. Tomorrow, he'll get extra attention.

My mistake, I had it in my head that his dog carrier or cage was in the house. I wouldn't have gone out in that rain either. We got a sprinkle here before it moved out to the east coast! We could use a bit of rain here right now.

The kennel he lives in is a wire one, a Great Dane size. He has plenty of room in it and it's completely open and up high so he can get light and air from the sliding window that is near him. And if he wants out, when I open the door and say, "Zane, do you want to go see the girls?", he gets up and hops up to the front so I can get him. If he doesn't want to come out, he backs up and buries his head, LOL. He knows how to tell me what he wants, that's for sure!

Yep, he's an intelligent one, my Zane. I love those animals that are smarter than average; maybe that's one reason I am so attached to this rooster. He's my buddy.

Here's my guy in the pen he usually stays in during the day:
