I agree, S.C. Lorelei, just like her two sisters, has been a wonderful part of the family here. Just think what their bodies go through to crank out those eggs every day of their lives; it's just amazing to me. I'd not want her to suffer here, but go on to that Great Roost in the Sky with Lacy, but she'll be sorely missed. I just wish all this stuff would quit for awhile. I knew the time would come when I would start to lose my original girls, but this seems way too soon.
Stacey, tell your kids I appreciate them caring about my birds. It's very sweet!

oh Cyn, I'm so happy that Zane is improving but I'm so sad about Lorelei, your original girls are just a tiny bit older than mine. It makes me so sad to think that they could die "of natural causes" so soon
I hope she is not in pain & her if she must pass I hope its swift. I always loved her single comb, she's a special girl.

I'm so thrilled that Zane is making progress, eating & drinking is surely a good sign.

I know, Kelly, we started out about the same time with our girls. Zane seems to be doing okay for the moment with a good appetite finally and is managing to get himself around the pen he's in. Lorelei seems too young and beautiful to leave us. I loved her quirky single comb, too. She has the sweetest expression of any of our SLW girls and the prettiest lacing, IMO. If she turns around this time, it will be a miracle. I have a sad feeling that if we hadn't gone looking for her tonight, she would have just stayed underneath that bush.

I don't know what is going on & why you guys are getting hit with so much at once, but I do know that you've had tremendous joy with your flock & your breeding has created beautiful babies that are bringing joy to lots of other people.....so as bad as this is I've got to believe things will get better. Not that we'll ever forget the ones you lost.

Thank you for all your support and kind words, Kelly. It's nice to get that from the old friends who were with me when these girls were just chicks in the brooder as well as my newer friends. All these things are just making me feel pretty helpless right now.
