Zane Made REAL Progress (New Pics Pg 99)!RIP Lorelei...

No, Carla, I haven't. Dr. Brown helped me so much with my Violet when she had bumblefoot that would not respond to antibiotic after antibiotic, that I just don't want to impose on him for this problem. In fact, the strong antibiotic that we gave Zane for 10 days was what was left of one the Doc sent me free of charge after I bought several that didn't work for her.

You could always have the feed mill make you up a batch of scratch grain. You would have to check to see what their minium would be to whether or not it would work for you. Or you could buy the grains you want and mix it yourself. I made my own mix over the winter and have gone to straight sunflower seed but, have been thinking about getting some small grains to mix in.

Cyn, I'm very sorry. I just read this whole thread, and I know how devastated you are.
If you don't like the scratch, get sweetfeed for horses. It's like super nutritional scratch, and they will love it. I get mine high in oats. The molasses will be good for them too. Much more healthy than chicken scratch.
If your feed store is having feed that is dusty, crumby, and buggy, the feed is old or improperly stored. It may have some bacteria or mold growing in it. Maybe you could get some feed from a bigger town where the turnover is faster at a feed store.
I would also take one or two of the chickens to a vet to do some blood tests.
IMO your chickens have some different symptoms, but they have some of the same symptoms, loss of appetite, sluggish, trouble with walking or balance, slow movement, all around the same time. My guess is that it's the same thing that's causing it.
Remember, too , that Purina had that feed recall, so feed has always been my first thought even a different brand.
I don't think I would be thinking that you would be bothering this doc you were talking to online (?), the worst thing that can happen is that no one answers you. That is not worth not trying.
I hope I've given you some more ideas, hope this gets figured out soon. Karen

Darn, Cyn!!!
It breaks my heart to hear that your girl's crying in pain...
At least Zane's hanging(literally and figurally) in...
I've always fed Layena or Blue Seal with all my birds. My last bag of Blue Seal was very dusty...but I can get it in 25 pound bags rather than just the 50 of Layena.
I hope that you hear from the vet and Peter Brown soon.
Hugs to all of you.
And you too Kitty.
