How's that boy doing this morning? Was he able to get some sun in the garden yesterday?

Had to mail eggs to Crazy4Chicks this morning-Julie, your eggs are on their way! So, I just got Zane his morning eggs with his antibiotic. I think it's been a week now and we're coming to the end of the run with those. I'm doing ten days, I believe that's recommended. I'll let you know how he is after we get him in the sunshine. He tried to raise up some this morning when I took him the food, but DH says he sees no improvement.
Had another jolt this morning when I found the only blue Orp I hatched in this last batch, Velvet's baby, dead in the brooder-it had to be either a scorpion in the brooder or she just didnt eat properly. It was fine last night and they werent cold at all. In fact they were spaced out nicely and running around. I had just taken 26 of the chicks, the first wave of the hatch, all ten days old, out to the nursery coop, and there were only seven babies in the brooder. This is the first chick that I've ever lost this way, and it's just another in a string of awful firsts for us this year.

I sure do hope things are going to turn around for the better soon! I think you deserve for some good luck to be heading your way after all of this!

I sure hope things turn around soon. On a brighter note, the babies in the coop are doing very well out there. It was down to 40 degrees last night and they did great. No distressed, cold baby sounds over the monitor all during the night and when we looked in the window this morning, they were eating, drinking and running all over the coop. Most are 11 days old and six of them are 4 days old. We have a 125 watt heatlamp and a 150 watt red ultraviolet reptile heatlamp out there as well, both about 2 ft from the floor in the center of the room. I really wasn't ready to move the younger ones out there till I found Velvet's baby dead this morning. The scorpions dont go into the coop, so I feel they are safer out there than in the house after that sad occurrence.
Zane had his outdoor time today. I placed him in beside his waterer in the dappled shade. DH was trimming some dead wood from the grapevines in the garden and when I came back, Zane had somehow moved to the other side of the waterer, a few feet closer to his daddy. He sort of squat-walks, I think. Anyway, he did manage to maneuver himself to a different location. Not sure if that's any real improvement, but he's trying.

The fact that Zane did get himself around a bit is encouraging!!! I think so anyways, even if it was a small distance.
