I don't get comparing human to animals !

but that is just me. Anyway most vets won't even look at a chicken. I know cynthia cares for her animals more than almost anyone else on this entire board.

I realize that I am new here and sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong but......from what I have read here, I think people come here and ask for support and advice because we all love our animals. That is one of the main reasons I just joined. With that being said....I believe that Cyn would not have posted if she wasn't beside herself about poor Zane.

Unfortunetly not all of us our in the position to spend extra money on our animals. I know in my situation my husband is gone during the week and I have two children ages 9 and 4 at home. I am not in the position to get an extra job to pay for unexpected expenses. I work during the day when my children are at school and at home by the time they are off the school bus. It is true that if it was one of my children I would have them at the DR ASAP but the facts are chickens are pets and you can only do what you can do and are able to do.

I do hope that Zane gets better and will add him to my prayer list tonight!

Cyn, I'm so sorry that Zane hasn't shown much improvement and understand the difficult decisions you're having to look at. I am wondering if there is an organization/non-profit that helps people with vet bills in your area. We have one here that sometimes helps people out with vet bills, although it is typically dogs, cats and an occassional rabbit, but it might be worth a shot. Also, never be afraid to ask for something; they may say no, but they may also say yes or be willing to work something out. And finally, I know you are a generous soul and have given much to others. I ask you to remember the feeling you get when others allow you to help them - please don't deny other people that feeling from helping you.

He's almost perky this morning. Tried to stand a bit, got up more up on his haunches, was eating well. Today is a better day for him so far. Hope this continues on to more improvement.

Cyn are in for some nice warm weather today? maybe a little warm sunshine will take the stiffness out of him and give him that extra little boost? I know you have been putting him out for fresh air but seeing how he is alittle perkier today it might help - who knows - I am such a newbie on chickens that I dont dare give any advice as to what might be his problem - I would rather just send my prayers to him and wish you and your DH - much needed luck with him - you are over due for some better days
