Yeah, I used those and it faded within a week

I thought all sharpies were 'permanent'?
Unless you soak 'em in rubbing alcohol like I do with food containers for labeling.
Might depend on what you are marking, some plastics are tough to stick to with anything.

No, most of my sharpies are dry erase. This is the one i use to mark plastic bags used for long term freezer food storage and the like.

/EDIT - See below, stripes were fading. Not a long term solution

Huh. 'Sharpie' used to mean permanent marker...like 'Kleenex' meant tissue.
Guess need to specify these days.

...and I've just added a second band to half my birds, the stripes were wearing off. Thank you @aart, I'd expected better - while still obvious, signs of wear were already present.
