Zip Wing bands

Hey there, does anyone here use zip wing bands? I have just ordered the zip bands as well as the pliers for them. Do they go over the wing and clamp it. Or do you have to push them into the web of the wing. this is the first time i have wing banded anything.

I have not done this myself, but I watched it being done. If I remember correctly it push the band into the web.

I'm thinking of switching to using wing bands instead of leg bands next year. That way I only have to do each chick once and not have to constantly change leg bands as they grow.
