zipped, but no hatch for several hours.

One of my eggs zipped at 2pm, (now 4pm) but stopped moving and doesn't appear to be breathing inside. Do i do anything or just assume it won't make it?

Do nothing for at least 24 hours. Some of them take a LONG time to zip.

it takes quite awhile! mine piped at 1:00 last night and hasn't done much yet either, so i don't think its time to worry yet!

How long can it take from peep to pip? We're on day 19 and I hear peeps! I gave my broody six of the eggs and she is making "different" little sounds today--I'm wondering if she is hearing peeps from her eggs too.

From Peeping sounds to pip can be 24 hours or more. From that external Pip you see to actual hatched chick can be anywhere from 6 to 72 HOURS. No rush.

thanks so much everybody. other are hatching but I think she died while zipping, the shell isn't making that respiration movement the other have been. going to hope, though. 7 chicks crashing around in the bator, 9 to go!

My first peep was saturday morning, day 21. Ist one hatched late sat night. Others pipped and zipped sunday morning and didn't hatch until tonight. Gave up on 2 that zipped yesterday and then nothing for over 18 hours ( no movement) and took them out. 1 chick had quit. the other started peeping as soon as I picked up the egg. Helped it out a bit (I know many dont believe in helping) but now it's screaming it's head off in the bator and running around. Whenever I think to give up on an egg I get a surprise. Good luck with your hatch. It's worth waiting.
