View attachment 1432089 I have a chick who is zipping in the wrong direction. The head is completely facing out of the egg and the beak could bite the shell open, if only that were the way to open the top of the egg. The beak is actually out of the egg and it is trying to squeeze the head out of the small opening with no success. You can see the eye. A few hours ago I saw blood vessels still bright red. It has been 13 hours since this chick started to hatch.
I know it will be fine for 2 more days without food and water, I know it is breathing and won’t suffocate. Still, I worry and wonder when to help.
Any advice?

The picture on top shows better that the toe is sticking out when it is stretching out of the eggs.

Update: the chicken pushed the head out but got stuck. I opened the zip line a little and it was able to get out of the egg on its own. I worried about the yolk sack but the inside of the egg was dry with lots of space when I looked with a flash light. It is resting now.

Good to hear it got out. I always slowly assist if there's no blood. Sounds like you did the right stuff as necessary. Hopefully by now it's up and going.
