Zoomies

I got 3 ducklings, roughly 6/7 weeks old. As they’ve got older they’ve become more confident. I’ve noticed the bigger one, maybe the oldest?keeps getting ‘Zoomies’ and runs a bit different to the other ducks?is this normal, thankyou

Yeah! I have a Pekin drake that gets the zoomies a lot, usually after the pool is refreshed. He’ll even zoom with his wings spread out like he’s flying, and he’s so big you can hear him from across the yard. I noticed sometimes a young baby will get silly and zoom and the other ducklings start to follow in a panic not knowing what’s going on

Some ducks are plain daft! We had a notable pekin duckling that started zooming round the brooder with neck outstretched ahead of it, from about 3 weeks old. She turned into a delightful female that still occasionally zooms round the garden when she is in a tizz about something or other. The other pekins just look as if they are shaking their heads in disbelief and go on with their ducky activities! She is a very noisy little girl who lets everyone -- including the neighbors -- know when she has something going on in her life! She even wakes up at 3 am and starts shouting about it all, just because she can. She is very cute with it!!
