Bumblefoot-like boil on eyelid, can I remove it at home?

So it's been over a month (oops) but thanks, Chickinie, for that information! Snowy's been getting over a mild respiratory infection. We caught him early and brought him inside, but it's one of the ones with the swollen eye-sinus area that just persists for ages. Good news, it has brought the...

FOODS GUINEAS CAN AND CAN'T EAT

I completely forgot I posted this thread years ago. Went looking again for why not to feed guineas legumes (after all they are such a good protein source) and it is here for anyone who is interested. https://guinea-fowl.com/guineas/What-to-feed-and%20what-to-avoid.html EXCERPT: 2. Never let...

Bumblefoot-like boil on eyelid, can I remove it at home?

And thanks Chickine, that's good to know! He's quite tame, we've washed out his eye lots of times so he's used to that. Does your rooster move his head when it starts hurting?

The pus is definitely hard, the whole boil feels hard.

Bumblefoot-like boil on eyelid, can I remove it at home?

Hey guys! My 6yo lavender pied guinea has grown a boil on his eyelid, I think it is similar to what is in bumblefoot. Watched it grow over several months, now it is so big he can't see out of one eye. It has no plug but I'm wondering if it is possible to open it up and remove it like in...

Is there anything wrong with my guinea

Yeah sorry to confuse your laying season (I'm in Australia so it's backwards for me) but you guys are in autumn right? Since she's matured while it's still laying season she might start laying (like R2elk said)... but she might not. None of my girls did until the next year. I really think she's...

    Futuristic Thinking?

More cocks=more fertile eggs, good for selling keets/eggs More hens=more eggs and less fighting. i'd just get them from keets so they are tame and then wait and see how many males and females there are.

Is there anything wrong with my guinea

I think she's fine she's just starting to get broody in preparation for eggs. My lavender pied girl Fuzzy has been a bit like that too even though laying season here doesn't start for another couple of weeks. Does she feel heavy when you pick her up? She's old enough to start laying, has she...

    Guinea fowl genetics... and wattles

Hey guys! So I have a theory about guinea fowl genetics and I haven't seen it anywhere else but... flat and curly wattles. Some females have curly wattles (like my Misty and Glossy) but most have flat. Some males have flat wattles (like my Flap and Tabby) but most have curly. Male sex...

Need Help and Advice on how I can save my Guinea

I usually give them baby parrot food through a syringe (advice from the vet when my first one got sick) when they have a tummy bug. He'll be dehydrated and that will give him the water and nutrients he needs, maybe some homeopathy or antibiotics too.. good luck.

    Gout in guinea?

One of my guinea hens has a swollen foot that looks like it might be gout (no plug for bumble foot) and lately I noticed her neck is getting pale. I researched treatment and they all recommend certain nutrients such as phosphorus. Apparently they need an enzyme phytase to digest it? Where can I...

Male Guinea Hen attacking all other birds

Yeah my Bouncie did that. Bit like roosters. Sometimes they get cocky and you just have to pick them up and put them back in their place.
