My hatch is underway. 40 eggs in the bator and 9 hatched so far. Many more pipped. I'll be asking for help identifying colors. It promises to be a great hatch if only I could relax! The oldest hatchling hatched 24 hrs ago and they are all still in the bator. I believe I can leave them in...
Border Collie puppy from working parents. Can't wait! :)
I set 41 Indian Runner eggs on 3/28. Looking forward to seeing them hatch towards the end of April.
My crew has new photos at: www.flickr.com/crawforddogs
No close up of their new feathers though. The darker ducklings are coming in white and a dark chocolate color that seems to be mixed with some occasional white? Almost like they may end up mallard and white with runner pattern which is...
So. . . ducklings are changing colors! The darker ones pictured are coming in with a dark chocolate color. The two paler ones are coming in completely white except for a bit of color (dark chocolate?) on heads. I will post photos but am amazed. What in the world did I produce?
I'm joining in. Surely my bad hatching Karma won't follow me into April? I'll be setting 41 eggs in just a couple days when I have enough eggs. I'll be heating up the bator and getting it set on the correct temp. tomorrow.
I need 9 hen ducklings so I can stop playing with the incubator. ...
I had an issue with bacteria and temps were about 1 F to low. In order to join in the Easter hatch-a-long I did a staggered hatch which was a disaster. The 1st set of hatchlings introduced lots of bacteria and eventually killed the other fetuses. Only 5 ducklings survived hatch. 2 died...
I used to herd ducks myself as a kid. Now I have a dog who does it for me. He moves his ducks very quietly and is quite patient with them when needed. Quite honestly he doesn't think I can put the ducks away by myself at night. :)
I must not have apricot then as she doesn't have eye stripes. She's runner pattern but with a funky color that isn't fawn. I may track her down and take a photo of her. . or not. I think she might be the drakes favorite as she seems very harassed and annoyed lately. Perhaps she'll be getting...
Not sure which photo you are talking about but yes I do have 1 blue hen, 1 mallard hen, and 1 apricot hen along with various other colors. I rarely photograph the adult ducks as none of them are used to people so it's a bit of a downer to get nice photos.
All the ducklings I have do have...
