    The Benefits of Guinea Fowl?

Not sure if you are wanting pics of my guineas... But I love to share pics of them...

    New to this guinea forum

Thank you again... But I am only doing what any Mom would do... In my eyes at least. I do hope that others will find how beneficial guineas are to people with special needs. If a flock of guineas can help one person... It is worth it.

    Guineas?

They can be loud... But I have never had a client yet complain. I also do photography at my home and on the grounds surrounding. The guineas sometimes will follow but I can keep them out of the pics pretty easy. I have had people actually ask to have them in their background shots.

    Guineas?

I love my guineas. We train them as therapy flocks, They are really smarter than people think, if given a chance and direction. Here is a quick video I made for you to show him. Now remember these are just babies but they are well on their way of being trained.

Male Guinea occasionally says "Buckwheat" like a female!

It is impossible for a male to make the "buck wheat" sound. And gate, size, wattles or helmets mean nothing when it comes to sexing guineas.

Guinea Breeders, Have you noticed any varieties being any more docile ?

My flocks are really tame. They don't seem to mind people walking around them at all. I guess they are pretty conditioned to people and their actions. I have not found color to really matter when it comes to training.

Can guineas carry diseases that affect chickens?

Yes, guineas can carry some of the same diseases as chickens. I would quarantine for 2 weeks just to be on the safe side.

Thank you for your kind words I agree.. My guineas are wonderful... The hens from my video were being really mean. When I am not taking their eggs/babies they are so much nicer. lol I am not sure about genetics.... It could maybe be a fact over time. I have been training mine as therapy birds...

We started using ours for our son.. Brighton is autistic and non-verbal. But now we do share them with the local schools and a few groups that have contacted us along the way. We also have some doctors & vets that follow our work and help in the programs. We hatch / train for therapy flocks...

I would think I will be getting eggs till October.. But I would think.. You would want to incubate earlier than that, so they could grow a little before winter sets in.
