Oh, btw...no idea what breed the impossibly tiny pasty baby (fingers crossed...s/he took the booty bath well and has had some electrolyte/probiotic water, not sure if eating and pooping has happened yet) is, but, I think the other two are bantam chochins.
Sigh...I did it again...
Wasn't gonna add to my flock at all this year, but, found some day old Buff Orpingtons and couldn't resist. Chicken math strikes again...got two only, figuring they could keep one another company...realized that I have three each of my other breeds and got one more Buff...
...it went on so long that Mama came downstairs right when we were finally ready to make our move.
Martha: I hear the sound! There it is again; what *is* that?
Emily: It seems somehow farmiliar. So much so, that it doesnt really frighten me anymore.
Agnes: Oh, gracious...
Charlotte: What is...
...Charlotte! That's more rude than any commotion we were making!
Charlotte: No, Bessie, I hear something, but can't make out what the sound could be.
*Please* shush...is that better?
Emily: Oh! I hear it, too. What IS that?
(all chickens cocking their heads to better catch the mysterious...
*THUD*
Charlotte: Hush, girls...don't wake Mama or our plan is ruined!!
Martha: (blinking sleepily) But, I don't understand. It's so DARK. Why aren't we cozy on our roosting bar?
Bessie: Dark and COLD!
Emily: Because Mama never brings the dumb-puter down to us -
Agnes: Emily, you know she...
All Chickens: Welcome!
Agnes: Rose, I am particularly fond of chickens who choose words such as, "fond"! Hello, everychicken, I am Agnes, a Rhode Island Red.
Charlotte: Such pretty flower names...I'm Charlotte.
Emily: I'm Emily, the fluffiest Barred Rock of B&P's flock.
Anne: Guess I should...
...so many waterfall posters, I think I'd like more than anything to see and hear one in reality. Would that be alright with you, Sophia?
Martha: *gulp* Sp-sp-spiral roosts? Oooookay...
Anne: C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, Colonel!
(me: not sure I'd be up to the task of talking school for my girls...I...
...almost 25 weeks old...
Charlotte: And, Emily and I have been laying since we were barely 20 weeks :)
Emily: Mama says I lay jumbo eggs!
Bessie: *giggling* Because you're jumbo, Emily!
Emily: Hmpf, Mama says I'm just "FLUFFY"
Martha: You won't be able to call us the Littles much longer...
Emily: Hey, there, everychicken, here's a synopsis of our list post...Charlotte wanted to do Kareoke, Anne was into the idea of the zip harness, Agnes was enchanted with the hiking trail option (we've never free ranged), Martha wanted to check out the treecoop, I wanted to get up a game of...
(me: stupid dumbputer...my flock tried a long party post and it just kept trying to submit for hours. Gave up and tried refresh and it was gone. Grumble, grumble)
Charlotte: Oh, no! Marianne already brought a clover casserole; that's what I was making. And, it was sooo difficult refraining from eating the necessary clover for the recipe.
Agnes: Everything is alright, dear. I saw Mama looking for wild strawberries in that patch under the crepe myrtle...
I moved here from Florida...a year and a half ago I barely even owned closed shoes!
His Girl Friday is a favorite of mine. My father was bedridden when I was young and my mother worked to support the family along with my dad's disability, so I was the "home health care" providing meds...
Yes, learning about earrings, painted toenails, etc. glad to hear the chickens keep their cuddly nature when they're older. It's one reason i went with babies instead of point of lay birds...i wanted to socialize friendly chickens.
Lol, A dear friend of mine wears a chochlear implant and will...
Yaaay, Lisa! Wow, not only do I not know how to quote many and partial posts (not a request for instructions, my computer is my phone so, limited), but I don't think I am functioning at a level to do so this early ;)
Thanks for the input on the Barred Rocks, mine are very personable, too. Last...
Oh, my! Hopefully the mild winters here will work in my favor, as far as laying goes; still many weeks before the eggs are part of things for me...my Barred Rocks are only 6 weeks old and, right now I'm just enchanted getting to spend time with them :)
Good morning!
Couldn't get to sleep last night, so, I slept in until 7:20. Chickie chores done, finches, parakeet and dog fed...time for coffee on the deck. It's beautifully crisp this morning (50 degrees F), promising to get up to the 70's and the sky is looking so blue, everything is washed...
