Hi guys!
My lovely Silkie girl Jaffa just hatched shipped Araucana eggs. 6 were under, 4 are out and about, 1 didn't hatch and other chick died after hatch for some reason. Hopefully will be at least 1 hen to cross with my silkie boy 😃.. looks like different coloured variety 🤔 it's cold here...
Hi!
I love byc and do look up handy info from time to time but I've been busy with my baby /family things so not had much of a minute to check out byc as often as I use too. I have still been loving my Silkies though! 11 currently. I've had quite a few hatches, sold lots. And now venturing into...
Hi all! I'm looking at getting blue egg laying silkie cross Araucana eggs, hatch them, then cross back a hen to silkie rooster, would they still lay blue eggs but have more silkie fluffy feathering?
Ok thanks, I did notice a feather difference between these last 2 I have and the 2 that were taken by a black bird, they had shoulder feathers and were darker in colour overall.
Any guesses on the above 2 Barnies?

2 have light feathering, 1 dark since hatch and still the same. Sex linked?
Dark one has more feathers at shoulders too
Double laced gold show quality hatched from shipped eggs.
2 boys and 1 girl?
I bought shipped barnevelder eggs, 4 hatched out of 12.
( 6 were not fertile. 1 didn't hatch, other one was picked on by other hen and died )
1 of them doesn't have the chipmunk stripe, is this normal? They were suppose to be show quality.
Also how do I tell if rooster or hen?
I have 4 broodies currently, I bought a dozen Double Laced gold barnevelder eggs for them to hatch 🐣 I haven't had other breeds before but hopefully they'll grow up and all get along. I don't plan to keep Barnie boys.
I'm wondering what a Barnie cross Silkie would be like 🤔
Hi everyone, it's been a very long time since I popped onto byc! I've had a baby so not much time for anything lately ☺️
I've reduced back my flock to 15 chickens now for a more manageable number, still having a few go broody even though it's winter here, so many eggs too! It's like they don't...
