Congrats! How's the leg doing? Is it turned outward or is it just the pic?
The chick is now doing great and is even running and jumping a bit! I took bandaid shoes of but then she wouldn't stop pecking at her toes and still seemed to favor the right slightly. So I put them back on for another...
Yes, the other chicks are out and in the brooder. I am using a heating pad not a heat lamp this time and they are such happy little chicks!!
I opened the air cell on one that I thought was dead in the shell....and it was....so sad :( There was a lot of fluid and it had not absorbed any yolk...
So what do I do when there are two eggs left that have not yet :huhatched? It's about day 23 for me...do I candle? Do I just keep waiting? What are you guys doing?
Can't wait to see those cuties!
Also...what does one do when you are at day 22-23 of incubation and there are two left that have not hatched and I am not seeing any movement?
I held some baby ducks this week at the feed store and it was all we could do not to bring them home! They are so soft and adorable!! Maybe one day...
And yes, this baby chick is the child of my favorite polish that was just recently killed by a hawk. I am so very thankful I was able to help...
Congrats on the babies! And I'm sorry for those who have lost some :(.
I am still waiting on my last two and worried they may not hatch.
Here is my new year baby that I had to help and was malpositioned! It's toes were a bit curled and was having trouble walking so I made him some boots (I...
Here is the little one you helped me hatch :)
It's a polish mixed with a Millie fleur bantam.
It's toes were a bit curled and the right leg a tiny bit crooked so I did my first attempt at bandaid boots lol. I think I made them too big though. I don't think it has splayed legs or tendon...
My malpositioned is out!!! I did a little "zipping" help and it was finally able to kick and open up and hatched right out!! It is chirping and trying to stand up! Has a little membrane stuck to it's head I think...
It hatched! I did some zipping and it kicked really fast! It has some membrane on its neck/head? Do I need to remove it or will it fall off? The inside of egg has a little clear/light yellow goo...is that a bad sign or ok
? It's moving around chirping and trying to stand up!!! :D
Yes, I know a lot of people don't, but this egg is the baby of my favorite chicken who was just killed by a hawk :( I will do whatever it takes to save it. The membrane was a bit dry and brown near opening so I added some antibiotic ointment and used tweezers to remove a little more shell to...
My first baby from yesterday is doing great!
The one that actually pipped first is still in there and has not progressed much past a small hole. It pipped a little low and I think it's malpositioned. :( I'm praying it makes it!!! It's been almost 36 hrs since it pipped. I do see it moving and...
Chirping is a good sign! Why did you put the piece of shell back on
I didn't put the shell back on LOL I meant "put it back" as in "I put the egg back in the incubator" haha sorry for my bad sleepy grammar lol
