As a kid I had helped my father raise bobwhite quail. Not just a few probably numbering close to a thousand. We would also have the occasional turkey, pheasant or an oddball quail.

That's not a bad idea. Tell them they are boiled. I like it.
Boil a few beforehand and mix them in......Just make sure you pick the boiled ones to prove it...
I do not plan on selling eggs or quail, just enough for personal consumption.
I have a breeder in my area that charges $2.50/dz..... Anyone know the break even point?
I read that soaking the hard boiled eggs in vinegar will make the shell disintegrate. then you remove the soft inner shell. Anyone have any experience doing this?
Read the posts on the sticky at the top pf the forum. there is a post on Coturnix basics. It reads like a Coturnix Quail for Dummies book. Lots of information that will help you!
Check the stickies on the top of the forum. Go to coturnix quail basics and keep scolling down. There are pictures of babies then adults.
Hope it helps.

I would not doubt that is the issue. I think she has been switching birds out for 2 or more years and not getting new blood. I could be wrong but I have a hunch that is the case.
I got an email from the person I got the eggs from. She gets a few of the crossed beaks from time to time. She said the whites throw a lot more crossed beaks than the browns and she has them mixed. Definately genetic.
I am assuming that 99% of these die in the shell.

Who said anything about bust them out. I do not bust my chicks out. He was somehow able to unzip and out out on his own.
I let mother nature takes its course and do not think intervening is the way to go.
I was curious as to what defects Coturnix quail have when hatching.
I had one hatch that had severe crossbeak. You could not even see his one eye. his head was that contorted. I felt that he needed culled due to the severity of its problem. How common is crossbeak in jumbo browns? Does it occur...
I had 1 dragging a yolk sac around last night before it broke it off in the incubator and it still seems good and strong. Is there a shot that it will make it or really no chance for it?
I was kind of curious as to why in the egg position study they did not turn the eggs small end down, only horizontally. Some odd studies, but maybe a little useful info here and there.
