I'm in Portland, OR. I picked up some chicks from the small nursery/farm store a few blocks from my house. I had never heard of penedesenca before now. I took three of them home along with 3 others chicks I have raised before. My question is, since they are a more rare breed, how likely is it...
Hello,
I have a few ideas of what s/he (hoping for a she) is, but nothing concrete. I was told it was a polish, but I'm thinking some type of cross, since there is an extra toe. Hoping it'll become more clear as it grows. Thoughts?
The first 2 photos are from a week ago. The last photo is...
I ended up with this little chick from a mixed box of breeds from a local nursery/city farm store. The clerk wasn't 100% sure what it was, but was thinking polish or silkie frizzle. I have never raised a polish or a silkie so I really have no idea. I'm thinking a cross maybe? Thoughts? I'm...
The chicken in question is definitely a roo. He hopped up on a fence this morning and crowed.
His waddle is getting larger and redder and his coloring is changing a bit. A lot more rusty orange.
I thought he was a d'uccle at first, then settled on brahma. Since you mentioned d'uccle I started looking at pics of d'uccle chicks and wondering if that is what he is. I don't think I will buy breed assortments again. It's driving me crazy not knowing officially what they are, haha.
If this...
I'm not sure what Juliechick saw to make her think roo, but the more upright stance, the redder and larger comb and what are staring to look more like pointy saddle feathers had me wondering.
I'm hoping for a pullet. The BYC community spotted my EE roo right away. I am suspicious of one of the other little bantams too. Not 100% positive on it's breed so it's hard to tell.
My daughter picked out some bantams chicks at TSC. The buff brahma has always been quite sure of itself and pushes around the standard chicks twice it's size. I don't know much about brahmas in general so curious to see what you think. It's about 6-7 weeks old.
Any thoughts...
They are in a closed run since we do have a 2 year old. I don't let my littlest do anything with the flock unless its to pet a pullet I have taken out. The other kids are 6 and up and the too doesn't have an issue with them. If anything, my 6 year old daughter is top of the pecking order. ;)
I...
frank is an EE roo about 14-15 weeks old. He has shown some of the typical behavior like grabbing the pullets by the neck and jumping on them. This morning he chased a buff out of the coop as soon as we opened the door. She was squealing and he wasn't letting up. I couldn't see if he had her or...
All of you were right on with helping me with the Easter egger. He has started to get a bit more vocal. Now, I am seeing a big difference in my two black austrolorps. I am thinking Blanche may be a Ben. What do you think? I am still trying to get pics of the other for comparison. So far I only...
