Does anyone have a picture of what a split crest looks like? I think two of my white crested chocolate girls have a split crest but I want to make sure before I remove them from the flock.
Lavender is recessive so if you breed with any other colors that don't carry lavender then the bird will be black based. Lavender is a pastel gene that dilutes all colors in it's double form.
They are lavenders and nice ones at that! It's hard to find them in solid colors. I'm not familiar with the pearl grey color. It could be a common name for silver. Lavenders are an even dark grey. Silvers are lighter and often uneven in color. They can show a brown tint to them as well.
No it does not. Females only carry one chocolate gene on the Z chromosome. Females are ZW and males are ZZ. Females only require one copy to show chocolate and males require two. Females will pass on their Z chromosome to their sons and the W to their daughters. All sons from a chocolate female...
Chocolate males over non chocolate females gives you a sex linked mating. All females will be chocolate or chocolate based and all males will carry chocolate
She is on here her screen name is learycow. She is a wealth of information. Glad to know you got a clear answer. Couldn't tell for sure if they were blue fawns. They look great.
They both look blue, but they could be dark blue fawns. If they are both blue then you will get 50% blue ducklings, 25% black and 25% silver. If they are both blue fawn then you will get 50 % blue fawn, 25% chocolate, and 25% buff
